The Mid-Atlantic Gleaning Network (MAGNET) is an independent charitable nonprofit organization authorized by the IRS to receive tax deductible gifts and donations under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Your gifts and donations are appreciated and very much needed, since all charitable work requires resources. MAGNET has also been known as the Washington Area Gleaning Network (WAGN). Donation checks may be made out to either WAGN or MAGNET and sent to our mailing address: P.O. Box 9871, Alexandria, VA 22304.

• $25 Field Supervisor’s gas to/from field
• $50 Fuel for van to transport 15 low income gleaners to/from field
• $50 Portable Potty service (1 month)
• $55 Insurance premium for one day
• $60 One tank of propane fuel for forklift
• $60 One thousand pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables for the poor
• $75 Truck driver stipend for hauling produce (1 day)
• $80 One cell phone service for gleaning coordinator (1 month)
• $125 Truck expense to haul produce from field to low income communities (one trip)
• $200 One tank fuel for refrigerated trailer
• $200 cost of average gleaning event (vehicle fuel, communications, containers, supplies)
• $230 Office Assistant (1 week/20 hours)
• $250 Bus transport of 40 poor people to/from gleaning field
• $280 Office trailer utilities and rent (1 month)
• $350 1,000 bags/containers for gleaned produce
• $800 Truckload of sweet potatoes from North Carolina (Transportation cost)
• $2,000 Truckload of produce from Florida (Transportation cost)

MAGNET is also in need of fax machines, computer equipment, and other gifts “in kind.” Volunteers are needed for many different kinds of tasks. Everyone can be involved. Please help if you can. MAGNET financial statements are on file at the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Affairs in Richmond or by request to MAGNET.

  1. Hey I am not into blogs really, but I found the info useful, especially the list of what amounts can help with what needs.
